Yetur Gross-Matos declares and stakes claim as first rounder in 2020 NFL Draft

A few final thoughts
At this point in the draft process, Yetur Gross-Matos appears to be a lock for the first round and if not a first-rounder he won’t fall far from it. With his size and power, he isn’t going to be a scheme-specific guy; he can win inside as a 3-tech or even out wide in a 6-technique. He has even shown the ability to drop back into coverage and at the least, get into the quarterbacks passing windows. Players with his scheme versatility are a dime-a-dozen.
Gross-Matos is not a finished product, but his traits alone will have NFL general managers and scouts alike, oozing from the mouth. It isn’t every day that you come across an edge rusher with who is built like him and his ceiling is as has as he wants to take it. He will need some coaching up to reach that potential, but with the improvements he has shown, even over the 2019 season, it’s hard to envision not finding success.
The scouting combine will be huge for him, if he goes in and hits the benchmark on the drills there, it shouldn’t hurt his stock because of what he has put on tape, but if he can perform above the norm, we may see him selected in the top-15.
Gross-Matos has fought an uphill battle from a very young, only preparing him for what’s to come in the next couple of months as we approach the draft. One can only hope that he reaches his true potential as a star in the NFL, he has certainly fought hard to get here.
