The nightmare scenario for the rest of the league. It is up for debate whether reports of Tom Brady’s demise are exaggerated. What is indisputable, though, is that the Patriots need to find his successor sooner rather than later after trading away Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Jarrett Stidham appears unlikely to be the man to take over from Brady, who still has two or three seasons left if he sticks to his claim of wanting to play until he is 45.

That would be ample time for Tagovailoa to learn from Brady and Bill Belichick and get ready to assume control of the offense for the most dominant dynasty the league has seen. If Belichick cares about setting the Pats up for the future when he eventually departs, he could leave them no greater gift than a Tagovailoa fully prepared to carry on their seemingly endless dominance.
