WR. Joe Reed. player. 888. Scouting Report. Virginia. 2. Pick Analysis

The Cavaliers have a very underrated wide receiver group, which is led by Hasise Dubois, though Joe Reed is the favorite target of quarterback Bryce Perkins. Reed is a quick receiver that has hauled in a team-best 70 receptions for 627 yards and six touchdowns. He also adds special teams value having scored two touchdowns via the kick return this season.

Reed has very good size to be up to line up inside or outside in the NFL at 6’1″ and 215 pounds. He also has game-changing speed that allows him to be a terror as a kick returner as well as after the catch. He also utilizes his speed to gain separation consistently and stretch the defense vertically. Reed hasn’t been asked to run a wide variety of routes so he will need to work on that aspect of his game at the next level.

As it often the case when a team is a big underdog, Virginia is going to have to rely on its stars to have career games versus Clemson. And that definitely includes Reed, who can expect a plethora of targets and will need to create a few big plays after the catch. It would also help the Cavaliers’ upset chances if he can create a big play or two in the return game.
