Scouting Report. TE. Joey Magnifico. 858. Pick Analysis. Memphis. 86. player

Cincinnati’s Josiah Deguara, listed earlier in this article, isn’t the only tight end worth watching the AAC Championship. Memphis has a good prospect of their own at the position in Joey Magnifico. Memphis doesn’t really utilize a tight end in the offense all that often so his stats won’t jump off the page. In fact, on the season, Magnifico has only pulled in 20 receptions for 335 yards and two touchdowns.

While his stats leave something to be desired, Magnifico projects very well to the NFL. He has good size at 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds. He is a former linebacker who relishes in the blocking aspect of the position and is an asset on run plays. He is a fluid athlete that helps with his route running with solid speed to stretch defenses up the seam. He can be moved all over the field with experience lining up in-line or outside as a receiver.

It would be foolish to think the Memphis is all of a sudden going to start fully utilizing the tight end and Magnifico in this game. In the first matchup, for instance, Magnifico only recorded one catch for three yards against the Bearcats. That being said, he could be an x-factor in the game if he can make a big play up the seam or in the redzone. Cincinnati will definitely have to account for him whenever he is on the field.
