AAC Championship: 5 2020 NFL Draft Prospects to watch
This may be a little cheating as Michael Warren II is only a Junior and is likely, and should, return to Cincinnati for his senior season in 2020. That being said, running backs tend to be the position that declares early since it is a short-lived position in the NFL anyways.
Warren is also the definition of a key player to watch in this game. He has been a workhorse for the Bearcats this season having rushed 217 times for 1,061 yards, and 12 touchdowns. That is after racking up over 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2018.
Warren is a solidly built and thick running back with his 5-foot-11, 222-pound frame. He is a powerful back who likes to initiate contact with defenders. He has enough speed to break a long run if given a lane but is mostly known as a grinder that gets better as the game goes on and the more carries he gets. He is also a solid option as a receiver out of the backfield.
Warren was a key part in keeping the Bearcats even being in the game last week with his 122 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Cincinnati will likely ride him on offense in this game as well. In fact, don’t be surprised if he ends up setting a season-high in carries versus Memphis. Not only is he arguably the best offensive player for the Bearcats, but he helps to keep the explosive Tiger offense off the field as well.
