2020 NFL Mock Draft: Herbert & Tua taken in top 15
21. Dallas Cowboys – Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue
Hopkins is not George Kittle, but he’s an impact move tight end who scored seven touchdowns this season and would be an upgrade on Jason Witten and Blake Jarwin.
22. Miami Dolphins – Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
There will be a clamor for the Dolphins to select a quarterback, but any passer they pick will struggle if they do not fix an offensive line in dire need of help.
23. Minnesota Vikings – Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE, Penn State
Everson Griffen figures to be in his last year with the Vikings, and the long and explosive Gross-Matos should prove an excellent replacement.
24. Kansas City Chiefs – D’Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
In an offseason where LeSean McCoy will be on the open market again, the Chiefs can add some dynamism to their backfield by selecting a more explosive and elusive successor to pair with Damien Williams.
25. Miami Dolphins – Creed Humphrey, IOL, Oklahoma
Still no quarterback, but the Dolphins would be able to get one in the second round if the first round played out in this fashion. Center is a weak spot for Miami and Humphrey can step into that role while offering the flexibility to play guard.
26. Buffalo Bills – Julian Okwara, EDGE, Notre Dame
Jerry Hughes will be 32 by the time the 2020 season starts and has only 3.5 sacks this year. A strong Bills defense could certainly use a young, athletic presence off the edge.
27. Green Bay Packers – Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
It’s tough to believe Aaron Rodgers is happy with the playmakers he has around him in Green Bay. Shenault, however, has the ability to fill the void left by the departures of Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb in recent years.
28. New Orleans Saints – Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Drew Brees does not have too long left as an elite NFL quarterback and the Saints have to start looking to the future. With Brees and Teddy Bridgewater in place, Love would have time to learn and iron out the inconsistencies that have affected his college career.
29. New England Patriots – Jacob Eason, QB, Washington
After an… OK season with the Huskies, Eason will likely head to the pros with a point to prove. There’s no better place to do that than in New England, where he can thrive under the tutelage of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady and step in when the latter calls it a career.
30. San Francisco 49ers – Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State
This is a case of building on a strength. The cornerback spot has become a strength for San Francisco but they will eventually need to prepare for life after Richard Sherman. Wade is an extremely talented slot corner with boundary potential that Sherman’s guidance could help harness.
31. Baltimore Ravens – Terrell Lewis, EDGE, Alabama
Jaylon Ferguson has shown flashes in the second half of the season and a pass defense that has a knack for creating turnovers would be further improved by the addition of another intriguing stand-up pass rusher.
32. Seattle Seahawks – Tyler Biadasz, IOL, Wisconsin
The Seahawks’ offensive line has made strides, but 33-year-old guard Mike Iupati is a free agent in the offseason and investing in Biadasz would be a smart use of resources for a team that has long had to win in spite of the guys up front.
