2020 NFL Draft: 3 round mock for 5 playoff eliminated teams

Philip Rivers is on the decline and whether or not he’ll suit up next year is more of a concern than it’s ever been. With one of the better quarterback classes in recent history, attacking the position is key at this point.
Justin Herbert hasn’t lived up to expectations this season, but that doesn’t take away from his potential. Perhaps, Rivers will stay another year giving the young quarterback time to develop his mental processing. A year behind a potential Hall of Famer could be just what the Herbert needs and if he does reach his ceiling the Chargers certainly won’t regret this pick down the road.
Herbert also gives the Chargers something they have been lacking at the quarterback position: mobility. In his most recent game against Utah in the Pac-12 championship game he showed off his running ability on several occasions.
Russell Okung has struggled to find the field this year because of injuries and with his contract up after next season, it’s time to find his replacement. Prince Tega Wanogho is a great mover and can keep up with speed rushers around the edge with ease. Nearly every trait you look for in a franchise left tackle, Tega Wanogho has it.
He can often rely solely on his athletic ability to win in college and in the NFL, that won’t quite cut it, but his upside is tremendous. He will need time to develop to become the franchise left tackle that the Chargers are looking for, but his upside makes it tough to pass on him at 42 overall.
Keenan Allen isn’t getting younger and it’s safe to say that Mike Williams hasn’t quite lived up to his potential coming out of Clemson. If the Chargers decide to go with their new young quarterback, he’ll need all the weapons he can get as his disposal.
DeVonta Smith may only be the third-option at Alabama, but he is still an extremely talented player. Smith isn’t the biggest receiver — 6’1″ 175 pounds — but he plays like he is 6’3″ 220. He can operate above the rim, displaying great ball skills and control at the catch-point, but he’s also shown the ability to take a slant all the way to the house, something the Chargers desperately need.
