2019 Heisman Finalists: How do they project to the NFL?
The finalists for the Heisman Trophy were announced the other day after great college seasons. But how do the finalists project as pros?
Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Jalen Hurts, and Chase Young were announced late Monday night as the finalists for the Heisman Trophy and will be in New York this weekend for the ceremony. Each player has had magnificent seasons and definitely deserves the recognition they are getting during this award season.
This is the first time that the finalists for the Heisman Trophy all play for a team in the College Football Playoff. That should show just how important each of these players was to their team’s success this season. The playoffs take place on December 28th this year where Fields, Young, and the Ohio State Buckeyes will face off against the Clemson Tigers. Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts will also square off against one another when LSU and Oklahoma collide that day.
Now, not to take anything away from the other finalists, but it would be a complete shock not to see Joe Burrow take home the award on Saturday. He has performed head and shoulders above everyone else all season. That being said, all the other finalists have had great seasons and careers in college football. Heck, it’s almost a win for a purely defensive player like Chase Young to just get invited to the ceremony. While we know Burrow, Fields, Hurts, and Young are great college players, how do their talents translate to the next level?
