Scouting Report. Round 5. 817. Pick Analysis. Pick 155. Clyde Edwards-Helaire. RB. player

Another incredible value, this time on day three. Edwards-Helaire was a little-known player coming into the season but has forced his way near the top of a loaded 2020 RB class.

Edwards-Helaire has been waiting in the wings his entire career at LSU, hoping to one day get an opportunity to show the world how good he could be. Following the graduation of Nick Brossette last year, he was finally awarded that chance, and the diminutive back has been balling out ever since.

CEH has six games of over 100 rushing yards in 2019, including a 136-yard performance against Auburn and a 103-yard, three-touchdown game against Alabama. He has also caught 50 passes this year, an incredibly high number for a college running back.

At 5’8″ and 209 pounds, Edwards-Helaire has a low center of gravity, which combined with his outstanding contact balance makes him a nightmare to bring down in the open field. He profiles as a true three-down back.

The LSU runner has been at his best in the biggest games of the season and has shown impressive ability as a receiver in addition to being an elusive runner. He would be an ideal complement to Kerryon Johnson in Detroit’s backfield. Here in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Lions add the lightning to Johnson’s thunder.
