2020 NFL Draft: Offensive linemen rising in postseason mock draft
By Jeremy Meek
The Dolphins are bad. As such, they can use someone at pretty much every position. With just 17 sacks, they are last in the NFL currently, and are lacking a real threat on the edge. They got their quarterback, so now they take someone to get after opposing passers.
Julian Okwara isn’t a perfect prospect, but he does have some unteachable traits, such as burst and bend. He fires off the line of scrimmage and will win a lot of reps with his initial quickness. He also has a few moves should they be required.
When you’re as bad a team as Miami is, you can just start drafting the highest graded players on your board and still get a position of need. The Dolphins need playmakers, and they need help at running back. They’re the only team in the NFL without 1,000 yards rushing as a team. They’re averaging just 67 yards a game.
D’Andre Swift is a playmaker in every sense of the word. He has speed, acceleration, and most importantly, some of the quickest feet in football. His cuts are lethal, and tackling him is akin to trying to catch the wind. He is a huge upgrade.
The Buffalo Bills have overcome years of being bad to become a team on the rise, and as of right now, a playoff team. They’re led by a defense giving up less than 15 points per game. One area they have “struggled” in is forcing turnovers. They’re in the bottom half of the league in interceptions, so adding a cornerback who also has good value at this point is the move.
Talented enough to go much higher, Kristian Fulton might wind up a huge steal here. He has good speed, terrific footwork, and fluid hips that allows him to make plays in the secondary. He didn’t grab a lot of picks in college, but he has the skillset to do so.
