Another underclassman running back has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, this time it is Florida State’s Cam Akers who has decided to forego his senior year.

He is underrated due to playing in a dumpster fire of a program at Florida State, but Seminoles’ running back Cam Akers is one of the more talented players in the country. Today, Akers declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, announcing he will forego his senior season in Tallahassee and take his talents to the next level.

Nobody is talking about Cam Akers, but come Sundays, many will be; he is a special, versatile back, who runs with power between the tackles, while also displaying the agility to make the open field move in space. Overshadowed by an underachieving Florida State program, Akers still managed to post gaudy numbers in a bounce back 2019 season.

After seeing his production drop in 2018, where he ran for just 706 yards rushing and six touchdowns, Akers topped the 1,000 yard mark for the second time in his career. This season, Akers has finished with 1,144 yards on the ground and 14 touchdowns, averaging five yards per carry; showing versatility, Akers also caught 30 passes out of the backfield for 225 yards and four additional scores.

Akers has decided to skip his bowl game, preserving his body and to begin training for the 2020 NFL Draft. He finished his three year career at Florida State with over 3,300 total yards and 34 total touchdowns. A talented running back class continues to grow as Akers joins the likes of Kylin Hill, A.J. Dillon, and Eno Benjamin.
