Heisman Trophy: Perfect NFL fits for the 2019 finalists
Jalen Hurts – Pittsburgh Steelers
An aggressive, mobile quarterback with issues protecting the football. Sounds a little like Ben Roethlisberger of old, doesn’t it?
Despite the rise of Devlin Hodges, the Steelers need to find a successor to Roethlisberger but, after trading away their first-rounder for Minkah Fitzpatrick, will have to wait until pick No. 54 in the second round if they want to draft one in 2020.
There’s at least half a chance Hurts could still be in play at that spot, and he could hardly ask for a better support system. Roethlisberger may not be the typical mentor in the mold of a Tom Brady, but he can certainly relate to the way Hurts plays the game and his issues with giveaways.
The icing on the cake here is Mike Tomlin, who has once again proven himself one of the best coaches in the NFL by getting the Steelers in the thick of the playoff hunt without the injured Roethlisberger. His is the perfect staff to iron out Hurts’ inconsistencies, and Pittsburgh is the perfect franchise for the Oklahoma Sooners star to mature and be groomed for an NFL debut.
