Scouting Report

Keeping your quarterback upright is probably a good place to start when developing the roster for what is to come. This year’s class of tackles is very good and could possibly see three taken in the top-15. Georgia’s Andrew Thomas should is a cut above the other’s though as a very complete player.

At 6’5” and 320lbs, Andrew Thomas has started in every game since his true freshman season at the University of Georgia. Having a tackle you can count on to play every game and every snap is huge when getting a quarterback to trust that his blindside is taken care of.

Thomas is an elite left tackle and is a plug and play starter from day one as a guy who has had more than enough reps at the college level. He has very good pre-snap mental processing to understand where blitzers are coming from and if any late ones arrive at the snap and doesn’t get fooled when picking up twists and stunts. He has incredible play strength as a guy who fires out of his stance in the run game to be very good as a drive blocker. Gets his hands inside and it is a wrap after that once he gets his feet running.

Thomas has a quick pass set with a very strong anchor that allows him to plant himself into the ground to take on power rushers without problem due to elite strength in his lower half. The Georgia standout also displays quick feet to mirror quicker edge rushers while having good hand usage to adjusts to counter attacks from edge rushers. Andrew Thomas is the premier tackle in this class and is going to make a quarterback very happy with how trustworthy he is in pass protection.
