Strengths

Amik Robertson plays the position with a natural feel for everything that is happening around him. His mental processing is very good when he is playing zone coverage as a guy who picks up on route concepts quickly.

He sees plays developing very well and isn’t easily fooled by receivers running in and out of his zone. This allows him to play with very good instincts and break on throws that aren’t even in his coverage. When he is tasked with playing in the slot, he has shown the ability to be a dangerous zone defender in underneath coverage which is essential for the nickel position.

His click and close abilities are elite as a guy who is not afraid to trigger as soon as he processes what he sees. He consistently plays low so that he can come out of his breaks with very good burst downhill. His footwork is clean and consistent allowing him to excel while playing in space the way he would in the slot.

He has effortless hip fluidity to turn on the line without losing leverage or speed. Flips his hips out of a smooth back pedal with ease to maintain his cushion in off coverage He has the foot speed to keep up with vertical routes and deep catch up speed to put himself back in phase if he ever finds himself out position.

Are you not entertained? Robertson is also not afraid to tackle and will lay a big hit on receivers he catches in the flats. He is aggressive coming downhill to knife ball carriers knees as well in open space showing solid abilities as a tackler. The best part of his game though is how elite his ball skills are.

He has exceptional tracking abilities to then has explosive leaping ability to go up and high point the football right on time. His soft hands allow him to effortlessly catch the ball and carry his momentum into picking up yards after the interception. He finds the balls whether its as a deep zone defender or an underneath guy and is a threat to flip the field at any time.
