After a weak group of corners last year, the 2020 NFL Draft class appears to be much different and leading the way is Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah.

Last year’s draft didn’t have much juice at the cornerback position. As the end of the first-round approached it was looking like not one corner would be selected in the first 32 picks, until the New York Giants traded up to the 30th pick to get Georgia’s, Deandre Baker, and for the most part,  he has yet to live up to his draft position. This 2020 NFL Draft class is much better, starting with Jeffrey Okudah.

This year, however, things appear to be much different as several corners have been receiving first-round hype: Kristian Fulton, Trevon Diggs, and of course, Jeffrey Okudah. Okudah is currently leading the way for the 2020 cornerback class, with the potential to be selected in the top half of the first-round and for Okudah, he is used to the fanfare.

Coming out of South Grand Prairie high school, in Grand Prairie, Texas, Okudah was not only a 5-star prospect but the number one overall cornerback in the 2017 class; he was ranked second in the State of Texas and eighth nationally.

Okudah has continued to build off that momentum out of high school by becoming the consensus “CB1” in the 2020 draft class. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the traits that make Okudah so highly touted by the draft community and why he is “CB1”.
