2020 NFL Draft: Why Joe Burrow is more than a one-hit wonder
A few final thoughts
Burrow has been pegged already as a one year wonder by a good number of the scouting community. Putting him into a category with the likes of guys like Mitchell Trubisky in that sense is just wrong.
He was never going to get an opportunity at Ohio State, transferred to LSU, and developed during his first season as a starting quarterback in college. Between his development and bringing in an offense that breaks the program out of the stone ages, Burrow is much deserving of a top draft selection.
Bringing high football IQ and elite accuracy, Burrow makes up for his solid physical traits solid to good physical traits. If he can land somewhere that is willing to build their offense around his skill set; he could be one of the top quarterbacks in the league fairly quickly.
Burrow wins with his ability to read the defensive coverages pre-snap, making quick decisions to get the ball out of his hands quickly. His poise within the pocket, along with patience and very good decision making will attract many suitors.
While he doesn’t have the elite arm talent, he has enough to make the vertical throws necessary to threaten the deep areas of the field with excellent ball placement. He thrives in a spread offense with a good dose of play-action and pre-snap motions allowing him to read the coverages. Burrow is a number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft with a high ceiling in the NFL.
