Rookie wide receivers set to play key role in Super Bowl race
San Francisco 49ers – Deebo Samuel
Samuel was barely targeted in the Niners’ shock loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week, but history suggests that game will likely just be an anomaly, as the second-round pick has become a well-established part of the San Francisco attack.
The former South Carolina Gamecock has earned the trust of Jimmy Garoppolo, proving particularly dangerous on slants and on reverses, with Samuel frequently deployed out of the backfield.
His extremely physical running style has made him a very tough man to bring down in the open field, his 8.1 YAC per reception average indicative of that.
With 669 yards and three touchdowns, Samuel has quickly delivered what the Niners expected of him. San Francisco will be relying on Samuel to produce in that manner in the postseason as the 49ers eye a Super Bowl run.
