Washington quarterback Jacob Eason has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft via his Twitter account, forgoing his senior season.
As bowl season is getting underway, another quarterback has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Following the suit of Jordan Love, Washington quarterback Jacob Eason has decided to forego his fifth season of eligibility and take his talents to the next level.
Eason has had an up and down junior season, posting a 64.2% completion percentage while throwing for 3,132 yards and 23 touchdowns to go with eight interceptions. He transferred to home state Washington from the University of Georgia after getting injured and beaten out by Jake Fromm.
He has an NFL ready arm go with the confidence that comes with having said big league ready arm. 2019 has been an inconsistent season for him as he has made “wow” level throws that go both ways. Eason possesses the ideal size that teams look for in their quarterbacks but not the base skillset. He has yet to learn that every throw doesn’t need to be a fastball and sometimes toning down to a changeup is good in certain situations.
He can make every throw required of an NFL passer but hasn’t met a tight window he doesn’t like. He doesn’t have the athleticism of a Justin Herbert or a Baker Mayfield but can manipulate his way around the pocket when it gets cluttered.
It is expected that Jacob Eason will be no lower than a second round selection in April’s draft due to his impressive physical tools. Some team will fall in love with his physical tools and believe that they can fix his mental processes.
