There will be concerns about his lack of tape and reps as an outside cornerback which is why he shouldn’t be limited to just that role. He relies on his length too much in press at times and will forget to activate his feet, causing his feet to get stuck into the ground.

Wade has a tendency to squat on routes in man coverage which leaves him having to really on his speed in trail position more times than you would like to see. He will play too high at times and limit his ability to be quick when needing to display later agility. Wade can get overly aggressive with receivers and become grabby downfield which will lead to flags at the next level.

Summary

Shaun Wade will check a lot of and almost every box you look for in a first-round cornerback. The lack of tape playing outside cornerback will concern some and rightfully so because he shouldn’t be stuck there anyway. Wade is a guy whose versatility could eventually find him making a move to the top of my position rankings for nickelbacks.

Wade is an absolute first rounder who will change a team’s defense as a chess piece player that allows an elite defense to take shape. He shouldn’t be limited to only playing the outside cornerback spot because that could limit what makes him so good as a football player.

Sure he could be a really good corner but where he wins is being able to be a guy who has the perfect versatility to elevate a defense in today’s NFL. Shaun Wade will be a first-round pick come April no matter what position you are slotting him at because the traits translate in every spot in the secondary which is what makes him the biggest enigma in the 2020 NFL Draft.
