2020 NFL Draft: Receivers dominate end-of-season mock draft
A pick akin to the days of Al Davis, Henry Ruggs III is the fastest player in this draft class. All eyes will be on him at the NFL Combine to see if he can break John Ross’s record 4.22 40-yard dash. Ruggs isn’t just all speed and no substance, though. He has soft hands and run-after-catch ability that makes him well worth the 11th-overall pick.
Keep an eye on his decision to declare, however. Ruggs is one of several players who is expected to stay with Alabama should Tua Tagovailoa return.
A big, mean, and nasty freak of an athlete is Javon Kinlaw from South Carolina. His is a name to watch climb boards into the top half of the draft as the pre-draft festivities begin in the coming months. His demeanor will be a welcome addition to any ball club. In the Colts Tampa 2 scheme, he’ll be brought along to become an intense interior pass-rushing threat.
Grant Delpit may have won the Thorpe Award, but his season was widely disappointing thanks to injuries and the overall sub-par play of the Tigers’ defense for most of the season. Still, there’s little room for expectation that his name should slip too far in April’s draft. He’s capable of filling either safety position, both of which need help in Tampa. Joining his former teammate Devin Bush serves as an added treat in the attempts to slow down the likes of Drew Brees and Matt Ryan.
In my previous mock, I had the Bucs selecting Jalen Hurts in round one. While it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility Tampa chases a quarterback, Jameis Winston did just lead the league in yards and was second in touchdowns to the likely league MVP. His 30 interceptions are laughable, but he may yet turn out in the end. Who knows.
