Scouting Report

The K’Lavon Chaisson I have seen since the Alabama game to start November has been a man on a mission. He made an appearance in the November risers but that play has now carried over into the most important games of the season in December.

Chaisson was unblockable all night long as he bent the edge consistently to put pressure on Jalen Hurts all night. The most impressive thing is how fast he was able to create that pressure by seemingly being in the backfield before the lineman across from him could get into his pass set. He is so athletic and explosive coming off the edge and it was exciting to see him play with such a high motor.

His performance Saturday night was huge as we named Defensive MVP because of much havoc he caused in the backfield all night long. K’Lavon Chaisson is going to be a really good first round pick for someone and is making his case for being the first edge rusher off the board after Chase Young.

Scouting Report

His play will look pedestrian in the stat sheet but we saw something from Delpit that we hadn’t seen since probably week two. We saw a healthy Delpit who looked confident in his movements and played fast. A lot of this season has been underwhelming for a guy who came in as a top 5 player in this class to start the season.

Next. LSU assistant Joe Brady should be NFL coaching candidate. dark

He has battled injuries which has caused him to look like a shell of himself too often this by being a hesitant tackler and not having the burst or range in coverage that we grew accustomed to. A healthy Grant Delpit ran around in coverage on Saturday night with fluidity, range, and was confident in his angles to the football to wrap up on tacklers. Grant Delpit is S1 in this class and now he has one more game to hopefully reclaim his spot as the top safety prospect in the class.
