Scouting Report

After a highly decorated career in Columbus, Ohio, Buckeyes’ running back J.K. Dobbins has decided to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Just two days after putting on a show at the Fiesta Bowl in a close loss to Clemson, Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins has decided to forego his senior season and declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. Right now, this writer has Dobbins listed as his second best running back in the class behind only Georgia’s D’Andre Swift.

After having a down year while splitting carries for Dallas Cowboys’ draft pick Mike Weber in 2018, Dobbins came back this year with a vengeance. Looking leaner, faster, and stronger, Dobbins topped 2,000 yards on the ground, busting long run after long run, including two in the semi-final loss to the Tigers over the weekend.

Right now Dobbins projects as an early day two pick, but given his body of work in 2019, and the athletic ability he will put on display at the Combine in March, Dobbins may become a fringe first rounder by the time the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around. While Dobbins is not the fastest or the strongest back in the class, he does have the best combination of the two traits of any back in this year’s draft class.

Becoming the all-time leading rusher in Ohio State history over the likes of Eddie George, Archie Griffin, and Ezekiel Elliott is no small task, but one that Dobbins accomplished as a Buckeye. He will now rest up that ankle he hurt over the weekend and begin preparing for the biggest job interviews of his life.
