Pick Analysis. Safety. 1. Scouting Report. Virginia Tech. Reggie Floyd. player. 847

Arguably the most important leader on the defensive side of the ball for the Hokies is Reggie Floyd. He was the Senior leader of the secondary and helped make all the calls on the backend of the defense. Floyd was the fifth-leading tackler for Virginia Tech this season while accounting for 61 total tackles with an additional seven pass breakups.

Floyd has excellent size for the position at 6-feet and 200 pounds. Even at that size, he shows good range as a deep safety in zone coverage. He is also able to come down quickly and be physical in stopping the run game. He can get caught out of position on play fakes or misdirection while also having a tendency to miss some tackles in space due to not properly breaking down.

If the Hokies hope to slow down Bowden and the Wildcats’ rushing attack Floyd will have to play a big part. He will likely play in-the-box and closer to the line of scrimmage throughout the game. One of the questions surrounding him before the season was his lack of physicality at the point of attack. His play in this game will go a long way towards answering that question.
