After a successful three year career with the Wisconsin Badgers, running back Jonathan Taylor has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.

After one of the most successful college careers of any running backs in the history of the sport, Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. In a deep running back class that saw Georgia’s D’Andre Swift declare yesterday as well, Taylor remains near the top and currently has a second round grade from this writer.

The 5-11 and 219 pound running back from Madison has rushed for back-to-back 2,000 yards in 2018 and this year, tallying nearly 6,200 rushing yards in his three year career with the Badgers. Scoring a total of 26 touchdowns this year, Taylor’s numbers have soared to an astounding 55 touchdowns in his career.

Showing the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield this year, Taylor tallied 26 catches and five touchdowns for an additional 252 yard as a receiver. While there were doubts about his ability as a receiver coming into the 2019 season, Taylor has quieted most of those fears with his performance this season.

The only fears about Taylor entering the draft cycle will be the tread on his tires, especially for the position with the shortest shelf life, and concerns over ball security as he tends to fumble more than the average high profile back.

We will see a run on backs in the second round of the draft this April when the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around, and Taylor will be one of those backs. After three successful years at the University of Wisconsin, Taylor is ready to take the leap to the next level as he will head to the NFL.
