Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Ole Miss. Benito Jones. 841. DT. 7. player

New England has two picks in the seventh round as well and they kickstart that with another defensive lineman here. Benito Jones from Ole Miss is a massive player at 6-foot-1 and 329-pounds. Even with that huge size and power, Jones is more athletic than it would seem.

He racked up 132 tackles in his four seasons with the Rebels and even had 10.5 sacks — 5.5 of which came this last season. Even with that being the case, his arm length brings up concerns at the next level and he could be limited to a two-down player.

That causes him to be around late because not many teams draft nose tackles before the final day. For New England, this is a great value pick and he can compete with Danny Shelton for snaps — that is, if they bring Shelton back.

7. player. North Carolina. Myles Dorn. S. 838. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Another pending free agent for New England is Devin McCourty. A two-time Pro Bowl selection and a three-time member of the Second-Team All-Pro, McCourty has not slowed down despite being 32-years old. He will likely return, especially considering his twin brother, Jason, is still under contract for this coming season.

Lining up next to McCourty is Patrick Chung, who has also been a solid player for them but is over the age of 30. With all that being said, New England doesn’t need starting safeties but they do need some depth.

They look for that with their final pick in this mock draft, grabbing Myles Dorn from North Carolina. Dorn has been solid for the Tar Heels, recording 240 tackles and six picks in his four seasons.

This is nothing more than a depth pick but there’s a chance he could find a role and stick with the team for a while.
