While he may be one of, if not the top interior offensive line target in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft class, Oklahoma’s Creed Humphrey is returning to school

The 6’5 316 starting center for the Sooners, Creed Humphrey confirmed on his Twitter account that he would be returning for his redshirt junior season after much speculation that ran counter to that notion. This is a huge decision that will reverberate throughout the interior offensive line class as he was seem as the top target in the 2020 NFL Draft at his position.

He’s the nominal starter at center but can play guard if necessary so teams will love the versatility. Humphrey has the right attitude and temperament to play inside. A nasty road grading type without the length to play tackle. Not the best athlete so he might be limited at just being a center at the next level. He’s very well schooled in the fundamentals of the position.

As the Sooners are likely playoff contenders again, it’s great for him to come back to school to lead what should be a stout offensive line once more. He was initially projected to go in the first round had he decided to declare for the draft. Humphrey should be a Rimington Trophy favorite entering the 2020 season.

As Spencer Rattler looks to take over under center for the Sooners next year, you bet he is rejoicing to have such an anchor back to protect him. Can Humphrey continue to rise, or was skipping out on the 2020 NFL Draft a mistake? For now, he is headed back to Norman, Oklahoma for another round with the Sooners.
