2020 NFL Draft: Stanford CB Paulson Adebo returning to Stanford

Instead of opting for the 2020 NFL Draft, Stanford cornerback Paulson Adebo has decided to return to school in order to improve into a first rounder.

Paulson Adebo was considered to be one of the better cornerback prospects in this year’s class entering the 2019 season. It was not a pleasant junior season to start off as he was repeatedly beaten by lesser receivers before he recovered to become Adebo once again late. He now has elected to return to Stanford instead of declaring for the 2020 NFL Draft.

As a sophomore, he tallied 64 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions in 2018. In nine games as a junior, his production dropped off as he only produced 33 tackles and four interceptions. He saw a dip in performance this year, and with returning to school, he could boost himself back into first round considerations in 2021.

NFL teams will love his size at a listed 6’1 184 and his ball skills are very good considering that he was converted to corner from wide receiver early on in his college career much like one Richard Sherman was. As more and more teams covet the size and length that he has, he will recover his ailing stock if he has a good 2020 season.

He will once again be among the top cornerback prospects headed into next season. Can he keep his spot there in what is shaping up to be a slightly less loaded cornerback class? Only time will tell as Adebo is taking a one-year risk on himself by returning to Stanford.
