Tristan Wirfs is the second Iowa Hawkeye on this life of underclassmen who have yet to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. Is big news about to come out of Iowa City?

Wirfs is everything you look for when you’re drafting a starting offensive tackle for your NFL franchise. He’s got the height, weight, arm length, and athleticism you look for in that position in today’s NFL.

For a six-foot-five man to be as balanced and nimble on his feet as Wirfs is is amazing. As you watch him play, you can see he never loses his balance or misses a block because of poor footwork. He uses that footwork to get in the right spot, which then allows him to use his strong hands to punch defenders and slow down their rush.

Wirfs also has an insanely strong lower body. Once he gets set on a block, it takes a force of nature to get him off of it more times than not. He’s also one of the most intelligent players on the field at any time. He’s able to almost diagnose the defensive pressure before it comes, and almost appears to see stunts and delayed blitzes well before they actually happen.

Tristan Wirfs figures to be a top ten pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, should he decide to leave school early and declare. With the money that comes with a pick in that range, almost everyone would find it insane for Wirfs to return to school for another season, no matter the reason.
