Isaiah Simmons, the linebacker/safety/do-it-all man for the Clemson Tigers has yet to announce his decision. Will the outcome of the College Football Playoff Championship Game make his decision for him?

If you’ve watched Clemson play at any point the last few seasons, then there’s no way to not know this guy’s name. Simmons is an absolute freak of nature who can play virtually any any position in the back seven of a defense.

If you need him at linebacker to stop the run or cover a running back in pass coverage, he can do it. If you need him at the back end of your defense playing safety, he can do that as well.  Simmons’ ball production was probably his only weakness entering 2019, but he’s even improved there too, as he has a career high 3 interceptions in 2019.

Simmons has elite speed, athleticism, and perhaps one of the highest I.Q.’s in all of football. His processing speed in the moment is lightning quick, and he can anticipate exactly where the play is going just milliseconds after the ball is snapped. It doesn’t matter where Simmons lines up on the field at the start of a play, because if there’s a gap , Simmons will attack it and make the offense pay.

Simmons is truly the unicorn in this year’s NFL draft, a player without a true position that can be a force no matter where he plays. It’s impossible to fathom after the numbers he put together in 2019 that he would return to Clemson, no matter should they win or lose the National Championship game. Simmons will be a game-changing player for the next generation of NFL players that are entering the league. It’s not a matter of if he will commit to entering the draft, but when.
