After a standout national championship performance and great 2019 season, K’Lavon Chaisson has elected to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft.

K’Lavon Chaisson declared for the 2020 NFL Draft via his Instagram account after a junior season that saw him produce 60 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. He had an excellent 2019 campaign after tearing his ACL in the 2018 season opener against Miami.

He’s one of the best edge rushers in the draft class with excellent athleticism and an improved base of fundamentals to go with it. Chaisson is an athletic freak that should test well at the NFL Scouting Combine in February; he has a real chance to be considered the second best pass rusher in this class behind Chase Young, and in competition with Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa.

He has the frame to either play as a 3-4 EDGE or a 4-3 defensive end. Shows very little dropoff in ability when he’s dropping off into coverage. Has enough power in his game to offset some concerns about bigger tackles getting their hands on him.

The medical will be key for him as the ACL is on the record but he proved that he can bounce back from such injuries. Teams will fall in love with his athleticism and likely take him in the top half of the first round. He won’t have to wait long to get drafted.

After losing seven underclassmen earlier this week, LSU just lost their eighth in Chaisson as he heads to the pros. A dynamic athlete reminiscent of Brian Burns a year ago, Chaisson has the opportunity to make a huge splash during the pre-draft process and at the next level.
