After accepting his invitation to the Senior Bowl, cornerback Kristian Fulton has decided to take time to rest and prepare for the 2020 NFL Draft instead

After winning the National Championship with the LSU Tigers, cornerback Kristian Fulton will not make the trip to Mobile, Alabama this week for the Reese’s Senior Bowl. According to Fulton’s agent, Fulton has decided to withdraw after a 15 game stretch of games and the wear and tear that comes with a Championship run; he will now rest and prepare for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Fulton is the third big named cornerback to withdraw from the event in order to prepare for the NFL Scouting Combine and the rest of the rigors of the 2020 NFL Draft process. Ohio State’s Damon Arnette and TCU’s Jeff Gladney have also been two names removed from the pre-draft event’s roster.

Fulton ends his LSU career with two full seasons as a starter at cornerback for the Tigers; in that span, he has tallied two career interceptions, 20 passes defended, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and 42 solo tackles. This year, playing opposite the diaper dandy Derrick Stingley, Fulton knocked down a whopping 14 passes, recorded one pick and tackle behind the line of scrimmage, and 28 solo tackles.

The graduating Tiger cornerback is a projected first round pick, and has been graded as high as the second best overall cornerback in the 2020 NFL Draft class. The move to withdraw from the Senior Bowl should have little bearing on his draft stock, and he will remain among the class’ top five cornerbacks.
