Closing the book on Ruiz

Overall, the good far outweighs the bad with Cesar Ruiz after a quite successful career with the Michigan Wolverines football program. The likely scenario ends with Ruiz being the first Wolverine selected in the 2020 NFL Draft by the time April rolls.

A balanced protector along the offensive line, without a doubt, Ruiz is not only the top center in this year’s draft class, but the best interior offensive lineman overall. From his hand placement and usage, to his high level of IQ, to his mobility, Ruiz is a well-rounded prospect and will make a day-one starter for the lucky team that drafts him.

Sure there are some areas of Ruiz’ game that he could improve, such as his ability to pick up speed from delayed blitzes in the A gap, and how he latches at the second level, but as long as he keeps working as hard as he does, then his transition to the NFL will be smooth. Any team in need of a starting center should pounce on Ruiz at the back end of the first round or early on day-two.
