Summary

Cap space and adding talented veterans is wonderful, but building a contender starts in the draft. Miami has more picks than anyone and can do some real damage. The offensive line likely needs four new starters, and while some may be acquired in free agency, it would be foolish to miss out on this extremely deep offensive tackle class.

The Dolphins are almost a guarantee to take a quarterback early on, and Tagovailoa appears to be the guy. However, he will need all the help he can get to make plays in South Beach should he be selected by Miami in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Some names to watch are Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, and USC’s Austin Jackson. Many believe that Brian Flores would likely to build his team through the secondary, but Miami already has All-pro cornerback Xavien Howard under contract. New defensive backs coach, Gerald Alexander, will likely advocate for a player he coached in college, Cal defensive back Ashtyn Davis.

Acquiring the resources is one thing. The Dolphins must use them properly to build a future contender. The last twenty years have been dark days for the Miami Dolphins. However CEO Stephen Ross believes that he has the right men in place to execute his plan. Dolphin fans should sleep well at night knowing Chris Grier and Brian Flores are running the show in Miami.
