Dallas Cowboys: 5 Ideal prospects in 2020 NFL Draft
By Randy Gurzi
The Dallas Cowboys have been building their team through the draft in recent seasons and should look to one of these prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft to continue trying to build a contender
Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have some big decisions to make. They’ve been building their roster through the draft and while that’s a good way to do business, the team will still have to fork out some big money when contracts come up.
They’ve already seen that happen with the majority of their offensive line as well as two members of their impressive 2016 NFL Draft — Jaylon Smith and Ezekiel Elliott. They’re also in discussions with quarterback Dak Prescott on a new contract as well, which is sure to eat up a huge chunk of their salary cap.
With that being the case, they’re going to need to hit on their selections in the upcoming draft. And with that said, we dig into five prospects who would be ideal for the Cowboys.
5. Thaddeus Moss, TE, LSU
Not everyone we look at here will be first-round picks, which is evident by Thaddeus Moss out of LSU being named. The Cowboys enter 2020 needing to make some moves at the tight end position as Jason Witten and Blake Jarwin both hitting free agency — although Jarwin is at least a restricted free agent meaning they should be able to retain him if they want to.
Witten, on the other hand, should be on the way out. He hasn’t been the same player he was during his prime and with his buddy, former head coach Jason Garrett, now gone the Boys should finally look for youth at the position.
What makes Moss an ideal fit is that he can already play in-line as a blocker, which is a plus for a run-heavy offense, which they should still be with Zeke under contract. Moss does need to work on his route running, but he does make some big plays and has a lot of room to grow.
Moss could be selected during day two of the draft and could develop into a starter at a major position of need.
