Sitting with the third pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Lions are open for business with the potential to come away massive winners

It should be no shock to anyone, but the general manager of the Detroit Lions Bob Quinn has stated that he is willing to trade out of the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With the chance to come away huge winners this April, the Lions have leverage to spike a bidding war as quarterback needy teams may try to come up and draft either Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa or Oregon’s Justin Herbert.

While some think the Lions could be in the market for a quarterback, they would take a huge hit in dead money to move on from Matt Stafford. In a deep crop of top tier talent in the draft, the Lions could trade down as low as 14 with the Indianapolis Colts and still find themselves in position to land a player like South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw as they did in Joe Marino’s latest mock draft.

If the Lions are committed to Matt Stafford (as they should be), then a blue chip player is firmly in their reach even after a trade down. It is undeniable that a player like Derrick Brown or Jeffrey Okudah would be a tremendous talent to add to the roster in Detroit with the third overall pick, but if the Lions raise the price of their pick to an unimaginable value, how could they say no?

Of course Quinn would publicly state that he is open for business with the third overall pick, as teams such as the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could come calling. If Quinn plays his cards correctly, then the Lions could come away with a highway robbery in the 2020 NFL Draft.
