While Jerry Jones is thinking of Dez Bryant in the shower and discussing Jason Witten, the rest of the Dallas Cowboys front office should be looking at players such as Albert Okwuegbunam

With everyone converging on Indianapolis for the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, reporters were able to get some time with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ‚— who is always good for some interesting quotes. And on Thursday, he had some rather off the wall comments.

One that wasn’t too crazy was his discussion on Jason Witten. While talking about the veteran tight end, Jones said he thinks he can still play and cannot imaging him outside of Dallas. That’s not something many fans will be happy to hear considering how slow Witten looked in 2019.

After that, Jones made a disturbing comment, saying he thinks about Dez Bryant a lot in the shower. You can’t make this stuff up.

And while Jerry was out there talking about players from the past that can’t help then in 2020 — and saying some stuff that can’t be unheard — there were players running drills on the field that could actually benefit the Cowboys this coming season.

One guy who could really help them would be Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. Despite what Jones says, Dallas absolutely has to move on from Witten and someone such as Okwuegbunam would give them a much-needed infusion of youth. He would also be much more explosive than what Witten has become — which became even more evident by him ripping off a 4.49 in the 40-yard dash.

Yes, 4.49 seconds at 258-pounds. Considering Witten probably couldn’t run the 40-yard dash in five seconds at this point in time, Okwuegbunam would be a drastic change for the Boys.

But more importantly, it would signal that they’re finally looking forward. One of the biggest issues Jones has had during his tenure as owner of the Cowboys is his desire to pay players for what they used to do.

He has always had a hard time letting go but hopefully, for the fans, his son Stephen Jones and vice president of player personnel Will McClay can convince him to look forward.

And at tight end, that should include targeting Albert Okwuegbunam.
