After an astounding season with the Clemson Tigers where Isaiah Simmons played three positions, he saw his 2020 NFL Draft stock solidify.

Tis the season for overreactions to numbers that 2020 NFL Draft prospects post while wearing spandex. However, in the case of one 2020 NFL Draft top-ten lock, it is time to truly appreciate the special player that he is as Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons was on another planet today in Indianapolis, Indiana.

4.38.

That is the time that Simmons ran in his 40 yard dash, topping the times of both Devin White and Devin Bush from a year ago, and just .01 seconds off of Shaquem Griffin’s time two years ago. For a man that measured in at almost 6-4 and 240 pounds, a sub-4.4 40 yard dash is an insane number, and one that will make his future defensive coordinator extremely happy.

Not only did Simmons post an elite 40 yard dash time, but he also jumped out of Lucas Oil Stadium on his vertical jump and broad jump. In his broad jump, Simmons hit an astounding 11 feet, finishing second in the class to only Mississippi State’s Willie Gay Jr., and in his vertical jump he hit 39 inches; this was good enough for tied third in the linebacker group.

The man truly is a unicorn, and now looks like a top-ten lock, and potentially a top-five lock should a non-quarterback needy team like the Detroit Lions or New York Giants fall in love with him. After a National Championship in 2018, and a runner-up finish in 2019, Simmons is ready to help an NFL team win a ring.
