In this mock draft, the Arizona Cardinals take an alternative route than you may have seen in prior mocks by trade back in the first round.

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a tough year where they only one game in their division and only five games overall — hitting the exact number Vegas predicted before the season. The good news for the Cardinals, however, is that they have a young quarterback with the potential to be a star in this league, Kyler Murray.

Murray was the number one overall for Arizona in last year’s draft and had some flashes over his rookie season that should give Cardinal’s fans hope for the future. He finished his rookie season with 3,772 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions with a completion percentage of 64.4. Murray was also effective with his feet, he ran for 544 yards, and 4 touchdowns with an average of 5.6 yards-per-carry.

On the other hand, Arizona is in perhaps, the toughest division (NFC West) in all of the NFL; in the last 8 years, a team from the NFC West has made it to the Super Bowl. In order for the Cardinals to live out their ultimate goal — winning a Super Bowl — they’re going to have a tough battle not only during the playoffs but throughout the regular season as well.

The Cardinals appear to have a quarterback who could win a Super Bowl, but if they want to win now while Murray is still on his rookie deal, they are going to have to do their absolute best at surrounding him with talent all over the field, and the best place to start is the draft. Arizona has a great chance to land an extremely talented player, as they again have a top-10 pick. Nonetheless, in this mock the Cardinals trade out of the top-10 and still landed an elite talent, let’s get to it.
