Matt Rhule has work cut out in 2020 NFL Draft 7-round mock
The Panthers are entering a rebuild under new head coach, Matt Rhule. The 2020 NFL Draft presents them with an opportunity to get a head start.
The Carolina Panthers appear to be entering a full scale rebuild. New head coach, Matt Rhule, was given a seven year contract, making it obvious that new owner, David Tepper, will give him the requisite team to build up this team this offseason in free agency and in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In the college rank, Rhule was respected as a program builder at Baylor and Temple. Rhule brought LSU’s passing game coordinator, Joe Brady, with him to Charlotte. Brady just capped off the greatest offensive season in SEC history in Baton Rouge. The Tigers ran the table to a 15-0 record and defeated the defending champion Clemson Tigers.
This Panthers could be undergoing a rebuild similar to what the Miami Dolphins did last off-season. The Panthers will likely be loading up on draft picks in the 2021 NFL Draft. It is rumored that the Carolina Panthers have turned their attention to Clemson Quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. This would require winning few enough games in 2020 to hold the first overall pick in 2021.
When a rebuild starts, teams are likely to unload veterans, hopefully in return for ample draft capital. The Panthers have plenty of veterans to move. Defensive tackles Kawaan Short and Dontari Poe may not carry much value, but in a rebuild like this one, simply getting as many picks as possible should be the main objective for Rhule and the Panthers.
