After cutting Cordy Glenn, the Bengals signal their  2020 NFL Draft plans and a potential youth movement following a 2-14 season.

The Cincinnati Bengals have cut veteran offensive tackle, Cordy Glenn, on Friday afternoon. This move opens up a hole at the right tackle spot just days before free agency. This move makes it obvious what the Bengals plans are for the 2020 NFL Draft, especially when it comes to what their plans seem to be for the offensive tackle spot, opposite of former first round pick, Jonah Williams.

With Glenn being cut, the Bengals have signaled that they might be undergoing a youth movement under second year head coach, Zac Taylor. After going 1-15 with a flurry of expensive veterans at multiple spots, the Bengals may be looking to trim some fat off of this roster.

Veterans such as defensive tackle, Geno Atkins, quarterback Andy Dalton, defensive end Carlos Dunlap, could all see their names mentioned in trades, or flat out released, in the coming days. One name to watch is wide receiver, A.J. Green. If the Bengals do intend to use the franchise tag on Green, the star wideout could be traded not long afterwards.

When it comes to the 2020 NFL Draft, the Bengals have plenty of routes to replace Glenn. Their first overall pick will likely be used on the man they believe will be their next franchise quarterback, LSU’s Joe Burrow. With the picks that follow however, they would be wise to get the former Heisman Trophy winner some protection. With the 33rd pick, the first pick in the second round, the Bengals have a plethora of options, whether it be trading up or down, or standing pat at 33 and taking an offensive tackle.

There are plenty of names to watch with that pick. If the Bengals decide to move up into the mid-twenties, they could land University of Houston tackle Josh Jones. Should Cincinnati decide to stay in the second round, USC’s Austin Jackson and TCU’s Lucas Niang serve as great value picks for a team with only seven draft picks in total.
