It appears as though Robert Quinn has several suitors but the Dallas Cowboys could add Everson Griffen if they don’t want to go the draft route for a replacement

The Dallas Cowboys have become one of the more frugal teams in the NFL over the past few seasons and once again, it appears to be costing them some important pieces. All offseason they drug their feet on an extension for Dak Prescott and that forced them to use the franchise tag on their quarterback.

While this gives them until July 15 to agree to a deal with Prescott, it also allowed Amari Cooper and Robert Quinn to hit free agency, something the Cowboys really didn’t want to happen. In fact, they even allowed Byron Jones to leave without negotiating as they wanted to spend the money on those players.

They might not get the chance now as free agency is underway — well, kind of as the tampering period which makes no sense started. And according to Cowboys insider Jane Slater, Quinn has quite a market already after recording 11.5 sacks last season for Dallas.

The good news for the Boys is that not all hope is lost. They could always land a solid No. 2 pass rusher opposite DeMarcus Lawrence in the draft. The problem is, they have so many other holes to fill, and might be creating more this week.

That means they could look to free agency where another veteran can replace Quinn. The best fit is arguably Everson Griffen, who spent the past 10 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Griffen was let go in a salary-cap move and Dallas should be willing to give him whatever money they were prepared to offer Quinn.

At 32-years of age, Griffen isn’t going to be a long-term answer but he’s still effective. In 2019, he had 41 tackles and eight sacks in 15 games.

This would be the wisest route for Dallas to take since there are no guarantees in the draft. Not to mention they already need a tight end, safety, cornerback — and possibly a receiver.
