The Rams cut Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley yesterday, and could look towards the later rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft to replace him

The Los Angeles Rams released former Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley yesterday, just two years into his new, shiny $15 million extension with the team. Could they look to replace the former first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft?

Listen closely, kids: do not pay running backs. Not now, not tomorrow, not next offseason. Why did the Tennessee Titans franchise tag Derrick Henry? Because they did not want to give their running back future guaranteed money.

The Rams still have Darrell Henderson on the roster, but he was not exactly a world beater when he got onto the field as a rookie. While he could take a step forward during his sophomore season, the Rams would be wise to invest in another back on a rookie contract.

Lucky for the Rams, this year’s draft class is a deep one. Do not expect the Rams to use a high draft asset in order to supplant the talent lost with Gurley, but they could find a bargain on the third day of the draft. There are bargains to be found in this year’s class of ball carriers.

Here are four late round running backs the Rams could look to target in order to replace Todd Gurley.
