Rams: 4 late-round 2020 NFL Draft running backs to replace Todd Gurley

DeeJay Dallas, Miami

Another versatile back who will be available on the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft is the University of Miami’s DeeJay Dallas. Listed as an athlete when recruited to the Hurricanes, Dallas filled in the hole as their running back rather than playing receiver, but displayed the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

While Dallas never rushed for more than 1,000 yards throughout his collegiate career in Miami, Florida, his yards per carry and production improved during all three years with the Hurricanes. In 2019, while only rushing for about 700 yards, Dallas found paydirt a massive 16 times, averaging six yards per carry. Should Dallas have gotten a full workload, he would have hit 1,000 yards with ease for the Hurricanes.

Given his versatility and the lack of draft capital the Rams have due to all of the trades they have made in recent years for the likes of Jalen Ramsey and Brandin Cooks, Dallas in the latter part of the 2020 NFL Draft may be the ideal fit. With Darrell Henderson already on the roster, having Dallas on the roster as a third down, change of pace back to Henderson may give the Rams a shared backfield to replace Todd Gurley with.
