Jalen Hurts is one of the more intriguing 2020 NFL Draft prospects to follow in this draft class. How does his skill set translate to the NFL?

Jalen Hurts is one of the more popular college football players in the 2020 NFL draft class. He also happens to have a very unique skill set for the quarterback position. So how does he project to the NFL? We take a look at that here.

Hurts had a very successful and prolific college career. For example, he was able to help lead his team to the College Football Playoffs in some form and fashion in every single year of his college career. Three times with Alabama and once with Oklahoma in his senior season. He was also commended for how he handled getting benched for Tua Tagovailoa prior to the 2018 season and how he was still able to help the team to the playoffs that season.

While he was always a solid, steady player and quarterback at Alabama, Hurts’ career really took off after his transfer to Oklahoma. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2019 after throwing for over 3,800 yards and 32 touchdowns, with just eight interceptions while also rushing for nearly 1,300 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground. Hurts might have claimed the Heisman if not for Joe Burrow’s historically good season at LSU.

While the stats are great, the improvement Hurts showed on film was more important for his NFL future. It was obvious early last season that his passing and accuracy had improved greatly under the tutelage of offensive mastermind Lincoln Riley. There are many football fans rooting for a guy like Hurts to succeed and his well-known work ethic makes it impossible to bet against Jalen Hurts succeeding as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
