Scouting Report. QB. 1. player. 13. Pick Analysis. . Cam Newton

This brings us to the second Heisman Trophy winning, National Champion, first overall pick at the quarterback position in Cam Newton after he was released by the Carolina Panthers last month. At just the age of 30 and reportedly 100 percent healthy for the first time in three years, the former NFL MVP may have a lot in the tank as well.

Unfortunately, just as with Winston, there are just as few options for Newton on the open market at this point. The main landing spot that continues to stick out continues to be the Los Angeles Chargers, but they already have their bridge quarterback in Tyrod Taylor, and again look hellbent on selecting either Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert later this month.

New England would remain a great spot for Newton as well as Winston, who would also likely be unwilling to sign somewhere without the opportunity to compete for the starting job in 2020. With that being said, the Chargers would be wise to take a deep look at Newton and give him a deal heading into 2020 so that they can keep their Super Bowl window open.

They have the talent on both sides of the ball to compete, but trusting Taylor or a rookie to lead that roster to the promise-land would be a big ask. Newton has won the MVP and has been to a Super Bowl before and could get the Chargers back into the postseason, and potentially looking at a deep run.
