Weaknesses

Jefferson lacks the speed to separate on downfield routes and this deficiency is evident when he gets the ball in his hands in the open field, as he struggles to consistently break away from defenders.

Despite playing in the SEC, there must be questions about how Jefferson deals with press coverage. Many of his receptions came after he benefitted from a free release off the line.

Even for somebody with hands as strong as Jefferson, focus drops have been an issue. He will need to ensure he stops balls going through his hands if he is to succeed at the next level.

Conclusion

Though there may be some concern over Jefferson’s sole season of elite production, he ticks a lot of the boxes NFL teams are looking for.

He doesn’t rely purely on physical tools to create separation and boasts an encouraging amount of refinement as a route-runner at this stage in his career.

His experience, or lack thereof, against press coverage may prove a sticking point for some teams, especially for a player who does not have the top-end speed to punish aggressive defenders.

Jefferson is the quintessential high-floor, low-ceiling prospect. He has the tools and the intelligence to step in and become a productive possession receiver right off the bat. Yet it is debatable whether he can ever be much more than that at the next level.
