Closing the book on Sewell

Long story short, Sewell is a phenomenal prospect that we have to wait another whole season before he can enter the NFL Draft.

Should Sewell have been draft eligible this year and had declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, he would have been this writer’s top prospect over the likes of Chase Young and Joe Burrow. Sewell is that good. While he likely will not be the top player selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, given that it is a quarterback’s league, he will contend with Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence as the top prospect in next year’s class.

Oregon graduated four offensive linemen this year, four of which will be in the NFL by the end of the month. Despite playing next to the likes of Calvin Throckmorton, Shane Lemeiux, and Jake Hanson, it was still Sewell who was the star of the Ducks’ offensive line; he got the national recognition, including being named as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year in the Pac-12.

It is not everyday that an offensive lineman, a sophomore offensive lineman at that, wins an offensive player of the year award. Yet Sewell played his way to that honor, and now as a Junior in 2020, he could look to go back-to-back with the honor.

Next. Which of remaining 2020 NFL Draft QBs can claim title of QB5?. dark

He is the real deal and worthy of every bit of 2021 NFL Draft hype that he has been getting. Penei Sewell will be the first offensive tackle off the board next year, and he would have been the first offensive tackle taken in the 2020 NFL Draft as well.
