1. Wide Receiver

The mid-season trade for Emmanuel Sanders proved a significant boon for the 49ers passing game as he slotted in perfectly next to younger weapons in the form of Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne.

However, with Sanders now a member of the New Orleans Saints, the glaring lack of reliable wideout options for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is clearly the most pressing problem for the 49ers to fix as they eye another run at the sixth Super Bowl title they agonizingly missed out in February.

With pick number 13 at their disposal, CeeDee Lamb of Oklahoma and the Alabama duo of Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III – considered the consensus top three at the position – are all well within their reach.

Any of that triumvirate would instantly improve San Francisco, however, in a historically deep receiver draft, the 49ers may consider doubling up and using multiple picks on the position to ensure Garoppolo has a group of wideouts with varied skill sets to throw to.

The 49ers have arguably the premier rushing attack in the NFL and the league’s top tight end in George Kittle. Adding at least one receiver who can make an immediate impact could take Kyle Shanahan’s dynamic offense to an even higher level.
