2020 NFL Draft: New York Jets zeroing in on Henry Ruggs III
The New York Jets have reportedly have been eyeing in on Alabama speedy wide receiver Henry Ruggs III as the 2020 NFL Draft approaches.
Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, said the New York Jets are “in love” with the speedy playmaker who “they have been eyeing very closely” as a potential candidate for the No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft that starts on April 23. Vacchiano also pointed to Ruggs’ teammate, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy as another option that the Jets could go within the 2020 NFL Draft.
The second-leading receiver on the Jets team last season, Robby Anderson left due to free agency. Anderson decided to sign with the Carolina Panthers. The only returning notable receiver for the Jets, Jamison Crowder. Crowder finished the season by catching 78 passes for 833 yards and six touchdowns in 2019. In this pass-heavy NFL now in days, those are not exactly No. 1 receiver numbers.
Ruggs is someone that has enough speed that he can just blow right by a defender even at the NFL level. Ruggs could have a number of game-changing plays, as soon as Week 1 of his rookie season. Ruggs caught 18 total touchdowns during his last two seasons at the University of Alabama, even though he was playing in a very beefed-up offense with Jeudy and Donavan Smith as well. Bama had various playmakers that Tua Tagovaolia had spread the ball too.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Ruggs ran a 4.27 official 40-yards dash time. That would help out Jets quarterback Sam Darnold so much by having a reliable deep threat receiver.
