The Louisville offensive tackle Mekhi Becton had his drug test flagged at the combine. Will his 2020 NFL Draft fate suffer as a result?

One of the most talked-about prospects in this year’s 2020 NFL Draft class has been the Louisville offensive tackle, Mekhi Becton. Before, Daniel Jeremiah, the NFL Network Draft analyst, did a mock draft and had the New York Giants taking Becton with their fourth overall pick. You could have argued that he is the best tackle in this draft class and there is no doubt he has the highest ceiling than any other offensive tackle in this draft class.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported, that Mekhi Becton was among multiple players who had their drug tests flagged at the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of February. Rapoport continued to say that teams were aware of this at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Per the new CBA rules, Mekhi Becton will have to go into Stage 1 for no more than 60 days. After which “he’ll will thereafter assume the same status as players who have never been referred to the Intervention Program.”

Becton, 21, is considered to be one of the top offensive tackles prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, and a potential top-10 pick. Is there potential that Becton could now fall outside the top-15 after this news?

Mekhi Becton was a second-team All-American as a junior at Louisville and a first-team All-ACC selection. He appeared in 35 games for Louisville, 33 of those games Becton started at either right or left tackle for the Cardinals
